Areas Organize Your Site into a Manageable Structure
 |
Sensible WebControl solutions are very flexible. Like most Web sites, we base them on a traditional tree structure. The tree is divided into main branches called 'site areas,' and each of these areas can itself branch into one or more smaller areas that contain your content. We call these smaller areas 'content types', because how they look and work varies depending on the type of content that you want them to store.
Most sites will contain seven or eight main site areas, including several required areas like “Site Membership/Administration”, “Contact Us” and “Site Help.” Other common areas include “Company Information”, “Products,” “Services,” “Resources,” “News & Events,” etc. Each site area contains a main page with easily updateable main headline, copy, primary image, and announcement features to make it easy for you to keep your site looking fresh from the moment a visitor enters. Keyword control combined with traffic reporting software helps you improve your site's ranking in search engines, while optional navigation images make it easy for visitors to identify where they are on the site and provide navigation shortcuts to help them get to favorite features more easily. A supplementary navigation menu lists the content options available in that site area plus standard options or features that are available anywhere on the site.
Instead of simple content, any site area can provide previews of selected content available in that site area. If you choose to include this option, you control which content is previewed, the order in which it is displayed, and how many entries are displayed. You can even set content to display at random so your site automatically looks different each time someone visits.
Whatever your needs, we will work with you to define and structure your site to best serve the specific audience that you want to draw to your Web site. Of course, we’ll also make it intuitive and enjoyable for your visitors and staff to use. That's the only sensible way to manage a Web site!
